April 2017 Newsletter

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the BMYC April Newsletter, since the last newsletter the choir has been concentrating on the 2017 taster weekend and concert which is less than 2 weeks away.  After this we will be looking to put on a further concert later in the year.

2017 Taster Weekend and Concert

The 2017 BMYC taster weekend is happening on the weekend of the 5th - 7th May and will be a great opportunity for new members to try out the choir under more relaxed conditions than a normal concert weekend.

The Concert & Travelling LightTravelling Light Poster

The Oxfordshire based group "Travelling Light" will be joining the choir for the concert at 7:30pm on the 6th May at Newbury Methodist Church.  Travelling Light are a contemporary folk duo (Karen and Duncan Wymbs) whose original songs gently explore questions about lifestyle, poverty, loneliness, and God's grace.

The choir will be performing a selection of spiritual and secular items both old and new and the programme will be made up of items by the choir and travelling light with a number of special items where the BMYC and travelling light will be joining together.

The concert is free so if you are in the area of Newbury please join us at Newbury Methodist Church and enjoy an evening with the BMYC and with Travelling Light.  There will be a retiring collection to support the activities of the choir and Travelling Light.

More 2017 Concerts

It is the hope of the choir to perform at least one more concert in 2017.  Due to the more complicated issues related to ensuring we have sufficient members, in this day Concert Clipartand age, to perform a concert, the BMYC will be proposing a date for a concert some time after the taster weekend is over and then we will be looking for potential hosts who might be able to accommodate the choir over this weekend.

A number of churches have recently been in touch and we will be contacting them directly to see if they are interested for the proposed dates.  However if you are connected to a church who might be interested please register your interest here. We can then provide further information about what hosting the BMYC entails.  We are particularly looking for churches in outside of the southern region of England to balance with the taster weekend in Newbury.

God Bless,

The British Methodist Youth Choir
